Plum Jam - The Magic Onions

Plum Jam

Riddle:  
A man without eyes saw plums on a tree
He neither ate plums nor left plums
Now how can that be?

We have been collecting delicious plums from our plum tree… hundreds!
Too many to eat them all!
 

So, we decided to try our hand at plum jam.

This is the recipe we used:

5 cups of chopped pitted and chopped up plum
1 pouch of Certo Fruit Pectin
7 cusp of sugar

Wash plums.

So yummy… try not to eat them all. Chop and pit them.

Add pectin. Bring to a rolling boil on the stove for 5 minutes.

 Bottle and Voila!! Plum Jam.


 Try making jam with any fruit… amazing what you can do!

  5. We’ve been enjoying making plum jam too. I wonder if the recipe you have is for general fruit jam, as plums are all naturally very rich in pectin once cooked, so normally you don’t need to add any. Certainly we never do – we just use cheap granulated sugar, along the traditional lines of equal weights sugar and fruit. When using small plums like Damsons, I leave the stones in, otherwise it would take all day to pit them! They seem to be easier to remove after the sugar has been added, then I scoop them out with a slotted spoon and the kids and I suck the jam residues off them!
