Warning : Cute Puppy Alert!
Moose, our Mini Australian Shepherd puppy, has settled into the Sunny House remarkably well. He is such a sweet thing. I thought having a new puppy would be hard work… endless piddles on the floor and yelping throughout the night. But no! He has been a dream. I think it’s because he’s so clever that he’s been so easy to train. He has spilt (as Teddy calls it) on the floor less times than I can count on my hands and not once in the last week. He sleeps outside, in an open kennel on the deck so he can wander out onto the grass when he needs to. At first, he barked at and chased the bunnies but, with a little firm letting-him-know-that-we-love-the-bunnies-too training, he now treats them as if he has been friends with them all his life. When we aren’t here, he roams freely around the back yard with them… Kitty thinks he thinks ‘at least I’m not alone here’ when he’s with the bunnies. He hasn’t chewed anything valuable yet. We walk with him to school in the mornings and he is very good on the leash. He sits when commanded at each street crossing.
He is a ‘happy-magnet’. Nobody can go past him without wanting to cuddle him. ‘Oh my,’ they say, ‘what a sweet and calm puppy you have!’ and Kitty smiles with pride from ear to ear.
Kitty has been a wonderful owner too. She picks up his ‘Moose tracks’ each morning and evening. She feeds him and walks him and loves him SO much.
Teddy loves him too… although Moose kind of thinks Teddy is another puppy and insists on playing with him whenever he’s near. Dominos can be very difficult with Moose around… unless your sister will hold him for you.
These are happy dog days.
Blessings and magic,
