52 Weeks in Nature : Week 16

Fifty Two weeks in nature… a series of photos each week to show what our nature looks like. For those who are participating, thank you… it’s been amazing to see how different the seasons are from place to place… and how beautiful.

Week 16 / 52

The children and I agree that nature is so incredibly magnificent and that our ability to notice all these amazing little daily miracles is waiting inside us… we can choose to walk on past OR we can choose to stop, acknowledge and marvel at the genius all around us.

Our second poppy today… an orange beauty. This bee was working furiously collecting all the pollen he she possibly could… his her pollen sacks are FULL and look how he has pollen all over his body and his face too.

(note to those who didn’t know either, from Ida, a beekeeper in Kentucky : Donni, just so you will know…. that beautiful bee is probably a “she”….as it’s the girls who run the show! The guys, drones, are just around to mate with the queen so she can lay lots of eggs. The girls do all the work!… thanks Ida. I’ll look at worker bees in a different light from now on).

  1. So cool how you caught the bees wings like that! We spent the day at Juanita Beach Park, which is a park/beach on Lake Washington. It also happens to have Juanita Creek, so it has a wetland. So it is a very interesting beach to explore. http://www.bluebellsandcockleshells.com/2014/04/52-weeks-in-nature-week-16-unexpected.html
