Succulents planted in Antique Wooden Thread Spools

Oh My Gosh… I am in love with these sweet little succulents Kitty and I planted in antique wooden thread spools. They sit on my windowsill and look so utterly adorable.

We found the antique wooden spools at a garage sale a few weeks ago – $2 for a bag of about 50!

We collected the succulents from our friends and neighbors (we live in Southern California where succulents are abundant). Succulents are amazingly easy to grow from snippings – snip off a tiny stem and plant. A root will grow.

We chose the littlest stems.

We used a chopstick to fill the wooden spools with soil and a toothpick to make a hole in the soil for the succulent stem to fit in.

Voila… the sweetest little succulent flowerpots on earth!

I have to smile. I started off with 8 on my windowsill.

One by one, they have disappeared into Kitty’s room.

While tidying up this morning, I found the last one in Teddy’s room.

Proof… succulents in antique wooden thread spools are a hit with all ages.

Blessings and magic,

Donni
