The kids and I have been having fun in the garden. As is our summer tradition, we have been making Fairy Gardens!!
When we were at the garden center, choosing plants for our Fairy Gardens, I couldn’t quite get passed the succulents! This often happens… the succulent section of the nursery is my particular vice.
Kitty had the idea for me to make a succulent Fairy Garden… squeal… look how unbearably cute my garden is!!!
Luckily, I had already fount this wonderful fruit-punch bowl at a garage sale recently.
All Fairy Gardens, particularly succulent gardens, need great drainage. I started with a layer of large river pebbles in the bottom of my glass bowl to aid drainage.
I added organic garden soil.
And then came my gorgeous little friends, the succulents. I limited myself to three and chose plants that had different textures, shapes and colors.
I added a layer of small, colorful pebbles to add to color and interest to my terrarium.
And then came a few little delights… a colorful feather butterfly on a twig ‘tree’.
A handmade felt succulent and wire fairy table and chairs (I’ll share my tutorial on how to make a set for your Fairy Garden soon).
My little succulent Fairy Garden is sitting on my coffee table in my living room and I am truly delighted each and ever time I catch a glimpse of it.
Are there any other succulent nuts out there??
Please visit my Fairy Garden Page for many other Fairy Garden ideas.
And, stay tuned to see the magical Fairy Gardens Teddy and Kitty made.
Blessings and magic,
Donni
