A Christmas Craft Faire for Needle Felted Ornaments - The Magic Onions

A Christmas Craft Faire for Needle Felted Ornaments

I loooooooooove doing craft fairs.

We have such fun setting up the booth. Kitty and Teddy and My Good man are invaluable. He is a super-star at lugging all the heavy tables and tents and the kids help to set everything up so magically with their special touch. It’s definitely a family affair.

It’s also wonderful getting to meet my customers and seeing their expressions when they look at my felted goodies. Kitty and I giggle at the children… we see them coming with their parents and we smile knowingly. Kids CANT walk past our booth without popping in. The colors and texture and cuteness ALWAYS wins them over. I love that kids can’t damage my felted things and when I smile at them welcomingly and encourage them to touch, I see the relief pass over mom’s face… and then she is touching too and then they are enthralled with the feeling of everything. Felted items feel SO good in your hands.

I am often working on something new with my wool and needle and people are so interested to see how needle felted sculptures take on their form. Many have never see needle felting in progress and are eager to try for themselves.

Here are some photos of our booth.

Everything you see here is available in The Magic Onions Shop.

One of my craft-fair-highlights happened the other day when a newly engaged couple stopped to kiss under the mistletoe hanging from the rafters of my booth. They looked so cute and I suggested that the exact mistletoe they kissed under would make a wonderful engagement photo prop. Their eyes sparkled as they purchased ‘their special mistletoe’. I can imagine it will be hanging in their home at Christmas time for many years to come.

Teddy loves collecting the money.

As you launch into the Holiday season this year, please consider supporting small businesses. Remember, when buying from a maker, you’re buying more than just and object. You are buying hundreds of hours of failures and experimentation. You are buying days, weeks & months of frustration and moments of PURE JOY. You aren’t just buying a thing, you’re buying a piece of their heart, part of a soul, a moment of someone’s life. Most importantly, you’re buying the artist more time to do something they love.

I have beautiful handmade Christmas ornaments in The Magic Onions Shop.

And felted toys.

And gorgeous goodies for your home.

And wonderful craft and fairy garden kits.

And needle felting kits to guide you through making these beautiful things for yourself.

I’m honored to share my heart and soul and life with you.

Blessings and magic,

Donni
