I planned on doing this activity earlier in the week but, being a interminable last-minute person, here it is today. So, if you haven’t already decorated your house for the 4th of July, here are two easy decorations for you to have fun with.
The first are 4th of July paper flowers.
Paint a coffee filter in red and blue paint, making sure to leave a white area too.
We use water colors when we paint on coffee filters as we love to dab a spot and watch it spread.
When your coffee filter is dry, fold in half.
And then in half again.
Scrunch the pointy end together and wrap in wire or a pipe cleaner.
Pull the petals into a flower shape and you will have a sweet little red, white and blue flower.
We have decorated out wreath with our 4th of July flowers and they look patriotically pretty.
The second decorations we made are some red, white and blue paper stars. I love these stars as they are so pretty. I have posted a tutorial on how to make them here. Don’t they look lovely hanging under Mr Ts insect band in his room?

Terrific ideas of how to decorate for the 4th! I love doing little projects – especially with the kids. We will definitely look up your tutorial on the star making, as that is right up our alley! We have done the filter flowers before, using eye-droppers instead of brushes. You’re right – it is really fun to watch the color travel. Have a great 4th!
