Everywhere, the honeysuckles are blooming. It brings so much joy to my heart to see my children delight in the simple joy of drinking honeysuckle nectar just like I did when I was a child.
Pick a honeysuckle flower. Smell it’s intoxicating perfume.
Clip the very base of the flower with your nails…
And suck…
Only the tiniest little drop is the sweetest tasting nectar to a child who is thinking ‘THIS is what the fairies drink!’
Blessings and magic.

Such simple magic that stays and becomes fond memories. Wonderful post left me feeling quite wistful for honeysuckle joys!!
How amazing! I have honeysuckle all around my pegola and I rejoice in its sweet perfume x
We did this as children and it is one of my favourite memories. :-)
Oh my gosh! I never new we could do this! What a wonderful activity to put on our to-do list. Thank you so much for sharing. :)
if you are very gentle, you can pinch off the tiny green end and pull out the stamens slowly, and the nectar forms a little ball!
mmm….I love honeysuckle nectar. But we have been having trouble finding it this summer! The honeysuckles we have picked are dry and empty! Enjoy the magical taste of honeysuckle while it lasts.
I LOVE honeysuckle…it was one of my fav things to do as a kid! It tastes so yummy…even if it is just the tiniest little drop ;-) Now my girls thinks it’s the neatest thing around, oh I must tell them it’s the fairies drink of choice…oh they’ll be thrilled!
Jamie :)
I did this, too as a child! Such sweet memories! Perhaps the faeries told me about it!
I remember, when I was little, the stone wall along the sidewalk and the honeysuckle grew over the top from the other side, and we could barely reach up to the blossoms. Definitely must grow for the girls someday!
