Happy 4th of July!!

I have lived in America for 10 happy years. At first, I missed my home terribly. I remember my mom telling me that once I have my own family I’ll realize that my children and husband are my home and the constant sadness of feeling ‘displaced’ will diminish. Oh Yay, it has! My life is so full, my blessings are so plentiful and heart is whole. My mom was right… my family is my home.

This country has given us so much to be thankful for… security, safety, employment, opportunities, friendship, family, to name but a few of her gifts to us and we are utterly grateful.

I was listening to NPR today. They shared a quote by Ghandi that made me think…
‘people tend to forget their duties but remember their rights.’ Let’s spend a few moments today thinking about our duties, to our family, our community, our country, our world AND to ourselves.

Blessings and magic,
Donni
