A Leap Year Visitor

Look who came a-visiting… beautiful Mr Hummingbird. A fitting treat for a Leap Year day.

I noticed him admiring himself in the glass of our french doors. He was hovering there, gazing in delight at the HANDSOME hummingbird he saw in the reflection. The doors were open a crack and the next moment, Mr Hummingbird was flying around our living room. It was quite amazing how relaxed he was at being in our home. He settled on a windowsill and waited for me to rescue him. I carefully put my hand around his delicate warm body. Oh my… what a thrill to HOLD a hummingbird.

Isn’t he beautiful… so tiny and colorful.

His feathers SO iridescent… magenta and olive!

I could feel his heart beating in his tiny body as I opened my hand and let him fly away.

Life gives us little gifts all the time… this was a BIG one for me, along with swimming with dolphins and galloping a horse along a deserted African beach. I am blessed indeed.

Blessings and magic,
Donni

  1. Hummingbirds are so amazing! We got to see a black vulture swoop over our neighbor’s house and so close to us on our walk that we saw the white of his wing tips. That followed by watching a great blue heron feasting on clams from the lake made for a wonderful day!
