Discovering Waldorf :: What Is It Like To Be A Waldorf Teacher

I am deeply grateful for our teachers at Maple Village School and the love and care they bring into Teddy and Kitty’s Waldorf classroom every day. Their level of commitment continues to amaze me. They gift so much of themselves into everything they do. Their teaching day does not stop when my children go home… oh no, it continues as they think and meditate on them and hold them close in their hearts all day long. They have truly taken the time to understand my beautiful babies and for this I am so grateful I could cry. They have given my children a deep sense of confidence in who they are… Kitty knows she’s amazing because, she is! And the other 12 children in her class know they are just as amazing too. They know this because Ms Lynne believes in them and works daily to find and nurture the spark that is their passion. It’s truly beautiful! Ms Michelle, Teddy’s teacher, lets him be free, lets him climb trees and rake leaves and be 5. But then she brings him in too, to experience gentleness and calm and be his safe place. Yes, I am deeply grateful.

Here is a short video on ‘What it is like to be a Waldorf Teacher’. You’ll see just how amazing they are.

Discovering Waldorf is a weekly series of articles written by ‘everyday’ Waldorf families. The contributors to this series share their ‘real-life’ insights and inspirations on all kinds of Waldorf topics. This series is not meant to be Waldorf philosophy in its purest form, but rather a snapshot of how we can all incorporate Waldorf ideas into our lives to help nurture and encourage the magic that is in our children. If you have a topic you wish to learn more about (or want to share) on Discovering Waldorf, send me an email at

Blessings and magic,
