Fresh Orange Juice

When we moved out of our small house and into the Sunny House last August, I was sad to leave behind my beautiful garden. The Sunny House had been built from the ground up by my Good Man, and at the time, the garden was a pile of builders rubble and dust. It had the bones of a great garden with a wonderfully big avocado tree and a happy plum tree in the back yard and I knew that with a little work, we could create a magical space for my children to play in.

This is our first Spring at the Sunny House and we have had fun planning and planting our garden. It’s been cool to start with a clean slate where every choice is purposeful. Our goal is to fill it with plants and trees that will nourish us. We have planted blueberry bushes, a mulberry tree, two passion fruit vines, a lemon tree and an orange tree.

It was amazingly exciting for Teddy to pick oranges to make gorgeous fresh orange juice for our Mother’s Day breakfast.

What more could a mom want?

How were you cherished on Mother’s Day?

Blessings and magic,

Donni

    1. Hi Marsha,
Yes, they are intentionally kept at 5 ft by snipping off the taller branches. Makes picking fruit so easy for the kids.

  3. when we moved last autumn from the sweet little town we had lived in for the past twelve years (as old as my daughter is!) … we left behind our much loved lilac trials, the rolling meadows behind the house and really so much more like my daughter’s imagined worlds and many happy footsteps there. Donnie, thank you for sharing beautiful story, change isn’t easy always, but how wonderful to be met with a beautiful little orang tree and such a sweet mother’s day gift! <3 pamela
