Look how pretty our windows look. We made these pretty wax paper and crayon stained glass hearts over the weekend. The sun shines through them, casting a pink glow over everything.
My kids love wax crayon crafts. I think it’s the bright colors and melting part that they enjoy the most.
Kitty chose a variety of pink crayons.
We set a double sheet of paper towel on the table.
A sheet of wax paper goes on top of the paper towels.
Teddy used a pencil sharpener to cover the wax paper in a pretty snow of crayon shavings. The more pieces of shaved crayon, the better… you really want to fill your whole sheet of wax paper.
Set another set of wax paper on top of the shaved crayons.
Another two sheets of paper towel goes on top (this saves your iron from getting melted was on it).
Now, iron (on a hot setting) on top of the paper towel. You might have to leave the iron in one spot for quite a while to get the saved crayon under it to melt well. You can check by lifting up the paper towel to see.
When your wax paper and crayons have spread their wonderful color all over the sheet, you can cut hearts out of it. We used a card stock heart cutout to trace the heart shapes onto our wax paper for easy cutting.
Stick your pretty hearts to the window with a little tape and there you have it… a beautiful Valentine heart window!
If you and your kiddies make some for your window, I’d LOVE to see a photo… link to your post in the comments below.
Happy Valentine’s crafting,
Blessings and magic,
Donni
