52 Weeks in Nature : Week 6 - The Magic Onions

52 Weeks in Nature : Week 6

Fifty Two weeks in nature… a series of photos each week to show what our nature here in Southern California looks like. For those who are participating, thank you… it’s been amazing to see how different the seasons are from place to place… and how beautiful.

Week 6/52

Pine Forests are enchanting places. They give us so much to play with… pine needles to make needle-butterflies with and pine cones to kick. We found an especially good climbing tree too. We collected natural treasures for a leaf mandala and discovered a micro-world in lichen. We marvel at Mother Nature’s bounty.

  1. Lovely. We’re aching for a little green around here. The snow is getting old …

    • Thanks, Arianne. I know that feeling towards the end of winter when you know that green shoots and buds are so close and you just don’t feel like waiting anymore :-) On the other hand, I keep looking at my phone’s weather report for the mountains as we haven’t had one day in the snow this year… there just hasn’t been any.

  2. I love the the leaf mandala you made. Beautiful!
As you can guess, in my corner of the world we are covered in snow. It does start to get old and yet the freshly fallen snow holds so much magic!

  4. Love the mandala and all the green you have! My picture for the week is of some fur that was left behind by an animal. I believe it to be the animal that has been digging up all my bulbs, the rascal! I always plant extra bulbs with that in mind and things always seem to work out just fine. http://www.bluebellsandcockleshells.com/2014/02/52-weeks-in-nature-652-our-bulb-thief.html
