Camping and some Duly Needed Unplugging.

Many of you know that our lives here in California have been turned upside down in the last few months. A few days ago, our Governor signed into law legislation that forces each and every child to be fully up to date on all state mandated vaccinations in order to attend school. California now has the strictest vaccine laws on the planet, with 49 vaccines mandated before the age of 5 – with no personal or religious opt outs for any of the vaccines on the mandated list. Some of the vaccines on the list are for communicable diseases, like measles, but many of them are for non-communicable diseases like Hep B and Tetanus. It is for this reason that we feel betrayed. Parents who have children who have experienced serious vaccine side effects, now have no way of protecting their vulnerable children from further vaccine harm.

I’m mourning our loss of parental rights. I’m mourning our loss of informed consent. I’m mourning our loss of body sovereignty. I’m mourning for all the children who have experienced vaccine injuries and have been cast aside and left with no one to protect them.

As the 4th of July approaches, I am mourning our loss of freedom and am feeling deeply disillusioned.

At times like this it helps to unplug and turn to nature to soothe the soul.  There’s nothing quite like camping, roughing it, burying oneself in the tasks of existing… building a fire, cooking, making a swing for the children to enjoy, listening to the birds and finding ways to reconnect with the one’s you love.

Thank you, Mother Nature.

Our lives will be changing. New adventures await. We have decided to follow the light instead of getting sucked into the darkness.

We have so much love and that’s all we really need.

Thank you for all the words of support many of you have sent over the past few months. Your words have given me strength and resolve.

Blessings and magic,

Donni

  1. just wondering where you went camping. We live in Los Angeles and just went camping in San Diego this last weekend…..and I would like to go where ever you went……perfect for my little kids.

    1. Hi Jeni,
This was at Wheeler Gorge, a little inland from Ojai. It’s our favorite local camping spot and reminds us of Big Sur with the forests and even a dragonfly filled stream. It’s also wonderfully cool there as the campsite is situated in the gorge. You’ll love it. Where in San Diego did you go? Have you been camping at Julian? xo Donni

  2. Thanks Donni – that was a perfect article – after the stressful week of so much information to read based on the outcome of SB 277 this allowed me to stop and slow down for a moment enjoying your pictures. I love your website.

  3. Oh Donni, your words touched my heart. I have been thinking about you and your family a lot this past week. I’m so glad you were able to find comfort in nature’s bounty. You know I stand behind you and I pray we can get this awful mess straightened out ASAP. <3

    1. Thank you, Nicole. Yes, your support and that of so many others, has spurred us on, even when we have felt exhausted and without hope. Thank you for sending us your love. xo Donni

  4. My heart aches for Californians, I am sorry to see this actually came to be :( Glad you were able to find comfort in nature’s beautiful gifts. Please stay strong, sending good thoughts your way.

    1. Hi Anya, thank you for your kind words and support. It means so much to know that we are not alone in our deep disagreement with this law.

  5. I love that you choose to focus your attention on what you want to create. Peace and an inner knowing that all will turn out right. No one has the right to take another’s rights away. I hope we will all stand up for our rights in ways that make a difference. And that this law is thrown out before it spreads to other states. I work for freedom with a huge and growing community called LIFE Leadership. (Living Intentionally For Excellence) Together We Achieve More!

    1. Thank you for your kind and supportive words, Crystal. You are right… we all need to work together for freedom and human rights. The gift in this situation is that it has woken up so many mama bears. Together we are a power that can make real change for the good.
