As many of you know, we are longing to relocate our family from the hustle and bustle of our megatropolis city to a more rural, nature-infused lifestyle.

This week past, we traveled to Portland, Oregon, to see if our spirits could connect with the city and surroundings. Boy, did they connect! They intertwined with beauty of the forests and the vast spaces as if they had been waiting for them all our lives.

I spent the whole week in awe of the beauty of Oregon; the moss covered trees, the open spaces, the huge flowing rivers.

Teddy and Kitty felt as free as the Canada Geese who filled the sky wherever we went.

Our Good Man (Dad), who feels that he needs to be near an urban area for work purposes, found the city vibrant and exciting.

And the Oregonians we met were wonderfully kind to us. Each and every friend went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and happy.

We discovered moss everywhere, precious gemstones on the pebbled beach, natural jungle-gyms wherever we went and so much beauty to paint.

  1. You’re making me miss Oregon. My family spent 6 years there before moving to Colorado. Man, do I miss the lush greenery of the Oregon coast. We lived right on the Ocean and it was amazing!

  2. I was so pleasantly surprised to see you visited Portland. I have lived here since 1996 and love it! I moved here from Nebraska so it was a big change for me. I too love all the green…the moss, the ferns. I am happy to hear that you had a nice visit:). Good luck in your search for a new place to call home!

  3. Oh my goodness, Oregon is so beautiful! We were checking it out in 2013, looking to move there from Colorado where we are now. We absolutely fell in love, the only thing needed is a job opportunity to make our 4th move worth it, so we stay put (for now). So glad to see you enjoyed it!
