You won’t believe how I came to make this sweet DIY needle felted fairy baby tutorial!
I am a crazy crafter who dreams of crafting in my sleep.
Am I the only one?
Sometimes I craft in my sleep all-night-long. I wake up… and what do you think I want to do? Yep… I want to CRAFT!
I dreamed of making these sweet fairy babies the other night. I woke up with such a magical feeling and knew I just had to make them in real life.
Yes, they are just as magical as they were in my dreams.
And, making them gave me a sense of joy. How can one not feel joyful when one is making fairy babies?
Making them is a very simple. If you haven’t needle felted before, this would be a wonderful project to get you going. To help you get started, I’ve put together a kit that contains everything you’ll need to make THREE sweet babies :: DIY Needle Felting Kit :: Fairy Babies.
If you are making these fairy babies on your own, you’ll need to source a few materials .
Materials :
– wool
– felt balls (3/4 inches in diameter)
– nylon butterfly
– felting needle
– hot glue gun
Method :
Step 1 ::
Assemble supplies. Break off a piece of wool roving about the length and width of the palm of your hand.
Step 2 ::
Place the felt ball (head) in the wool, about a third from the top of the wool.
Step 3 ::
Fold the right corner of wool over the felt ball.
Step 4 ::
Fold the left corner of wool over the first fold, forming a blanket over the baby.
Step 5 ::
Needle felt the blanket into the head with a needle felting needle.
Step 6 ::
Needle felt the body of the baby into a smooth oval.
Step 7 ::
Needle felt the blanket around the head so that the head just peeks out.
Step 8 ::
Stick the wings onto the back of the blanket with hot glue.
Your little ones will be charmed with the fairy babies you make them.
I’m working on bringing this project to you in video form. I’ll be posting it on my The Magic Onions Youtube Channel soon.
This project (and lots of other fun needle felting projects) is available as a DIY kit in The Magic Onions shop.

I think I might try making these with my girls and some of their friends. Do you think this would be a good project for 8 year olds?
