We’ve made the most magical fairy bedroom and I’ve shared it on Fairy Gardens.com today. Kitty and I spent such beautiful quality time together making this enchantment… I cherished being invited into her charming 11-year old world. You MUST come and see it!
Please pop over to Fairy Gardens.com to see our magical fairy garden.
And, I have a little surprise over there for you too. Don’t miss out.
We’ve had a most magical fairy garden season on the Fairy Gardens site. With ENCHANTING fairy gardens entered into this year’s contest.
I’ve chosen the winners! Here they are – in no particular order. If you want to see which of these beauties WON (or if you want to see them all in MORE detail), you’ll have to pop on over to the Fairy Garden site to find out.
Aren’t they magnificent? Which one do you think won?? (of course, you’ll have to visit the Fairy Garden site to see for sure).
And, to see ALL the gardens that were entered (and to see what a difficult time I had choosing only 5), visit the Contest page.
Be sure to check the Fairy Garden site regularly as there will be more fairy garden delights daily.
One of our favorite places in all of Maine was a place called Mackworth Island. It is a little island off the coast of Maine, connected to the mainland by a small bridge… if you didn’t know it was there, you’d quite miss it.
The island is covered in thousands of the most majestic trees AND, can you believe it, fairy houses! It’s utterly enchanting. Everyone who visits the island, collects nature goodies on their walk to make the fairies a house and the result is an island packed with the most delightful little scenes.
Of course we made a house too… or rather, Teddy did. He was quite enthralled to the extreme and wanted to build the fairies the best house in all the land. We think he succeeded. Don’t you?
So, if you are in the Falmouth area, be sure to take some time to visit this magical island.
Here are some more photos of Teddy building his fairy house…
And here are some other enchanting fairy houses we found along the way…
Kitty didn’t make a fairy house :: she drew a fairy house instead…
But Dad couldn’t resist making a house of his own…
The kids and I have been having fun in the garden. As is our summer tradition, we have been making Fairy Gardens!!
When we were at the garden center, choosing plants for our Fairy Gardens, I couldn’t quite get passed the succulents! This often happens… the succulent section of the nursery is my particular vice.
Kitty had the idea for me to make a succulent Fairy Garden… squeal… look how unbearably cute my garden is!!!
Luckily, I had already fount this wonderful fruit-punch bowl at a garage sale recently.
All Fairy Gardens, particularly succulent gardens, need great drainage. I started with a layer of large river pebbles in the bottom of my glass bowl to aid drainage.
I added organic garden soil.
And then came my gorgeous little friends, the succulents. I limited myself to three and chose plants that had different textures, shapes and colors.
I added a layer of small, colorful pebbles to add to color and interest to my terrarium.
And then came a few little delights… a colorful feather butterfly on a twig ‘tree’.
A handmade felt succulent and wire fairy table and chairs (I’ll share my tutorial on how to make a set for your Fairy Garden soon).
My little succulent Fairy Garden is sitting on my coffee table in my living room and I am truly delighted each and ever time I catch a glimpse of it.
Are there any other succulent nuts out there??
